DRY NEEDLING / IMS / INTRAMUSCULAR STIMULATION
Dry needling is a specialized treatment used by physiotherapists to relieve muscle pain and improve movement by targeting myofascial trigger points. This technique involves inserting thin, sterile needles into tight or knotted muscles, helping to reduce tension, increase blood flow, and promote the body's natural healing process.
Research on the benefits of dry needling is supportive in the treatment of many conditions. With pain of recent origin, one treatment may be all that is necessary. In recent published studies of patients with low back pain, the average number of treatments required was 8.2.
Physiohaus clinicians are trained in Integrated Dry Needling, Functional Dry Needling, acupuncture and intramuscular stimulation (IMS).
GUNN IMS requires extensive training at the University of British Columbia. For more information regarding IMS, please refer to the University of British Columbia's website: https://www.gunnims.com/.
